I was a pastor for ten years and experienced just about everything in that decade that a pastor could experience, including staffing issues, member issues, money issues and conflict created by mentally unstable people. I worked as a consultant with different churches going through conflict and splits, and I know first hand the pain and pressure that ministers face very often alone. As such I have spent the past several years tracking down the best tools and strategies for dealing with all of the above while maintaining and even deepening one’s own growth and faith in the midst of it all. You will find many regular updates here (plus a FREE book below to download), so check back often for articles, videos and audio messages. You will find these very effective and most will be short so you can take immediate advantage of these technologies.

Also, I have included an absolutely free resource on this page for your immediate download; a few chapters I have adapted from Anthony Robbins’ and Joseph McClendon III’s book “Unlimited Power.” I have placed their principles in the context of some biblical examples that I believe you will find very powerful. Also I HIGHLY recommend you go to the library (or bookstore if you underline like me) and TONIGHT begin reading a copy of Robbins’ book “Awaken the Giant Within.” You will find literally hundreds of techniques and strategies for dealing with stress and pressure along with tons of inspiration and motivation.
Again, know you are not alone, and be sure to check back often for new material. If I can pray for you shoot me an email and let me know your story. I will share some of mine along with other techniques in the upcoming videos.

3. Move. Motion creates emotion. The bottom line is that every emotion has a physical expression. For instance, if we put a depressed person behind a curtain and asked you to guess what they looked like you could do it in a moment. They would have a sad facial expression, a tension in their body, their shoulders would be slumped, their eyes to the ground and their breathing shallow. In fact if you practice this very same physiology you will “feel” a sense of depression.
So, move your body in the way that you would IF you were fully confident and filled with unspeakable joy. Make a radical shift in the way you are standing and breathing and in what expression is on your face. Punch the air with force and say “YES!” Again, this is not about what you “feel” like doing, the feelings and emotions will follow. Please trust me on this.
How often do you do these? I do them daily if not several times a day. In fact, when I was in the fire of affliction these became my lifeblood.
So breathe, intentionally give thanks and practice gratitude, and MOVE. You may not feel able to pray at the moment other than in anger, that is OK, tell God how you really feel. Also you may not feel like reading scripture at the moment, so don’t. This is not the time to sound “spiritual.” God won’t love you any less if you skip your “devotionals”. Believe me, he is right there with you.
So: BREATHE, PRACTICE GRATITUDE, and MOVE.
